Foggia's day dedicated to the rights and participation of people with disabilities
Disability Pride Foggia is an event dedicated to the visibility, rights, and participation of people with disabilities, hosted in the capital of the Province of Foggia, the heart of the Capitanata area in Puglia. The initiative embraces the spirit of the broader Disability Pride movement, which advocates across Italy for every person's right to be fully recognized in their dignity, free from all forms of stereotypes, barriers, and discrimination.
At the heart of the day is the belief that inclusion is not an abstract concept, but a daily practice to be built together. Disability Pride aims to be an open and participatory space, capable of giving voice to the experiences, energy, and best practices present in the local community. It is not merely a showcase, but a moment of civic awareness where associations, families, institutions, and citizens meet to reflect on existing inequalities and the concrete paths to overcome them.
The strength of the event lies in its collective nature: every year, the Organizing Committee invites volunteer associations, third-sector entities, and local stakeholders to propose informative activities, discussion panels, personal testimonies, workshops, and artistic, sporting, and cultural initiatives that align with the values of Pride. The result is a collaborative program that alternates performances, music, dance, poetry readings, and sports demonstrations in a festive and inclusive atmosphere.
Set in the city spaces of Foggia—from the Campi Diomedei to the central squares—the event weaves the theme of rights into the daily life of the city. For the Daunian capital, Disability Pride represents a defining civic appointment that reaffirms the commitment of the entire territory to accessibility, solidarity, and the full empowerment of people with disabilities within the Apulian community.
The second edition of Disability Pride Foggia will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the Campi Diomedei, in the heart of the Daunian capital. The day renews the commitment to visibility, rights, and the full participation of people with disabilities, with the goal of countering stereotypes and discrimination while spreading a culture of inclusion.
The Organizing Committee has opened a call for volunteer associations, third-sector entities, and local stakeholders in the Capitanata region to propose informative activities, testimonies, workshops, and artistic, sporting, and cultural initiatives. The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be finalized in the weeks leading up to the event, once all applications have been collected.
Foggia is a major railway hub: the central station is connected to Bari, Naples, Rome, and Pescara. By car, it can be reached via the A14 motorway (Foggia exit) and the main roads of the Capitanata. The Campi Diomedei are located in the city area and are easily accessible on foot from the center.
The event is free and open to everyone. For information on how to join or how associations can participate, please contact the organizers at [email protected] or via WhatsApp at +39 388 9903969.
