The most famous 'spiedo' festival in the Marca Trevigiana, 'City of Spiedo' since 1956
The Spiedo Gigante di Pieve di Soligo is one of the most famous gastronomic festivals in the Marca Trevigiana, in the province of Treviso. Since 1956, the town in the Prosecco hills has held the title of 'City of Spiedo', and every autumn it renews the tradition of 'spiedo allo spiedo' (spit-roasted meat), the star dish of Treviso cuisine, in Piazza Caduti nei Lager.
The heart of the festival is the 'spiedo': mixed meats slowly cooked on a spit according to the great gastronomic tradition of the area, the result of the work of almost 200 volunteers from the Pro Loco Pieve di Soligo. The food stall opens in the evening, while on festive days lunch is also served at midday, in a convivial atmosphere that attracts gourmets from all over the region.
From 2026, the Spiedo Gigante will be recognized as a 'Sagra di Qualità' UNPLI (Quality Festival), a mark that the National Union of Pro Loco of Italy awards to events that stand out for their gastronomic quality, organisation, and promotion of the territory. A recognition that rewards decades of work and confirms the festival's role as an ambassador of Treviso cuisine.
Pieve di Soligo, the town of Andrea Zanzotto, is located in the heart of the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene Prosecco Hills, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Spiedo Gigante is an opportunity to combine the great tradition of 'spiedo' with the local wines, in one of the most evocative landscapes of the Veneto region.
The 2026 edition, the sixty-ninth, of the Spiedo Gigante di Pieve di Soligo will be the first to bear the 'Sagra di Qualità' UNPLI (Quality Festival) recognition. As tradition dictates, the event will take place over three weekends between late September and mid-October in Piazza Caduti nei Lager, with the nearly 200 volunteers of the Pro Loco preparing the 'spiedo allo spiedo' (spit-roasted meat). The food stall opens in the evening from 7:00 PM, and lunches are served on festive days. The precise dates are published by the Pro Loco shortly before the event.

Pieve di Soligo can be reached by car from Conegliano along the roads of the Prosecco hills. The festival is held in Piazza Caduti nei Lager. Traffic restrictions in the town centre may be in place during the event.
