The pumpkin, autumn's protagonist

The Festa della Zucca di Sernaglia della Battaglia, in the province of Treviso, is one of the most beloved autumn sagre in the Quartier del Piave. For several weekends in October, the Pro Loco of Sernaglia pavilion fills with the aromas of seasonal cuisine, with pumpkin featured in every course: gnocchi, crepes, pasta and cappellacci, pumpkin in saor and fried pumpkin, as well as homemade bread, desserts, and jams.

A Quality Sagra

In 2026, the festival received the Quality Sagra recognition from UNPLI Nazionale, the Union of Pro Loco Associations of Italy: the award, received on March 15, 2026, in the Sala Koch of the Senate of the Republic by a local delegation, certifies the gastronomic care, attention to tradition, and organizational quality of the volunteers led by president Giuseppe Aliprandi and vice-president Cesare Merotto.

Contests, exhibitions, and excursions

In addition to the gastronomic aspect, the event features a carved pumpkin contest for the students of Sernaglia and Falzè schools, a homemade pumpkin bread competition, a pumpkin exhibition, and family-friendly events like puppet shows. The connection with the territory is also present: a guided excursion to the Parco delle Fontane Bianche, one of the most suggestive natural areas in Veneto, accompanies the festival days.

A community celebration

Supported by the municipal administration and the entire community of Sernaglia della Battaglia, the Festa della Zucca is the result of the work of Pro Loco volunteers. It's a sagra that has also captured national television attention, with an episode of "Sagre d'Italia" dedicated to it on Food Network, and it tells the agricultural and convivial identity of this corner of the Marca Trevigiana.
