The chestnut autumn in Tarzo
The Festa della Castagna di Colmaggiore is the event that celebrates the chestnuts from the Colmaggiore hamlet of Tarzo (province of Treviso) and the surrounding hills. Traditionally held on the first three Sundays of October, the festival plays a leading role in the gastronomic calendar of the Alta Marca Trevigiana and is part of the 'Delizie d'Autunno' circuit.
Chestnuts and autumn cuisine
Chestnuts from local producers are cooked on a giant pan and offered roasted, as well as in soups and artisanal desserts. The gastronomic stand of the Pro Loco Tarzo, located in the spacious multipurpose center on Via Cesare Battisti, offers chestnuts alongside seasonal specialties: dishes from the grill, polenta, wild boar, roe deer, and spit-roasted meats.
Walks, murals, and activities
The festival is also an opportunity to discover the territory: walks through the chestnut groves and guided tours along the scenic Via dei Murales (Street of Murals), markets of typical products, dance school performances, educational workshops, and shows for children on Sunday afternoons. A weekend of celebration that combines taste, nature, and community on the hills of Tarzo.
