March 8th in the Border City

In Gorizia, a city where Italian and Slovenian have always coexisted, even International Women's Day takes on a border flavor. The concert "Songs, Women and Border Stories", hosted by the Kulturni dom on via Ivan Brass, celebrates March 8th with music: a repertoire that crosses the geographical and cultural borders of the territory, telling the stories of women and the history of a land of encounter.

A Journey Through European Songs

The protagonist of the evening is the Ensemble Görzæ, a group that combines voice, accordion, clarinet, guitar, and bass, accompanied by a guest singer. The program features Italian, Friulian, Slovenian, Istrian, and Balkan songs, in a journey exploring Gorizia's Central European musical heritage: folk melodies, original compositions, and border stories that speak of migration, love, and resistance.

Preview of the Komigo Festival

The concert also serves as a preview of the Komigo festival, a cultural event in Gorizia that brings together the voices and experiences of the cross-border region. The evening is free admission by donation, with the support of Coop Alleanza 3.0 and the collaboration of the Kulturni dom, aiming for accessible and shared culture.
