Europe's largest digital gallery, featuring Refik Anadol
The Bombi Gallery, the pedestrian tunnel that connects Gorizia's center to nearby Nova Gorica, has become one of the symbolic spaces of the European Capital of Culture legacy. Here, the DAG — Digital Art Gallery has opened, presented as the largest digital gallery in Europe: approximately 1,000 square meters of curved LED surface cladding the walkway, transforming a transit space into an immersive experience of art and technology.
The star of the gallery is "Data Tunnel", a work by Turkish-American artist Refik Anadol, one of the most renowned names in international digital art. The installation uses artificial intelligence to process vast amounts of data related to the planet's ecosystems, generating continuously transforming visual and auditory flows. The journey is divided into sections dedicated to different realms of nature, preceded by an introduction showcasing the raw data before its reprocessing.
"Data Tunnel" is much more than a visual spectacle; it's a reflection on the relationship between humanity, nature, and technology, merging art, science, and ecology into an enveloping sensory experience. The work transforms planetary ecosystem data into poetic imagery, inviting visitors to view the natural world from a novel perspective.
Created by the Municipality of Gorizia with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and curated by MEET, the DAG is located in the most symbolic place of cross-border Gorizia, where the border between Italy and Slovenia has become a shared passage. Open until December 2026, it is an unmissable stop for anyone visiting this border city.
Throughout 2026, until December, the Bombi Gallery hosts the DAG with the work "Data Tunnel" by Refik Anadol. The installation, spread across approximately 1,000 square meters of curved LED, merges art, artificial intelligence, light, and sound, processing planetary ecosystem data into continuously transforming visual flows, organized into sections dedicated to the realms of nature. Entry is free with mandatory reservation.
