Summer evenings featuring live music, Schuhplattler dances, and South Tyrolean specialties in the heart of Terento
The Sommertreff in Terenten is one of the most cherished summer events in Terento (Terenten), a small mountain village in the Puster Valley, in the province of Bolzano (South Tyrol). On summer evenings, the village center, centered around the iconic music pavilion (Musikpavillon), transforms into a vibrant meeting point for locals and visitors alike, offering a warm and authentically Tyrolean atmosphere.
The heart of every evening is live music, featuring a rotation of local bands, neighboring village ensembles, and folk groups that perform traditional Tyrolean tunes and popular hits. The event is made truly unique by the performances of Schuhplattler groups—the spectacular traditional Tyrolean dance where performers rhythmically strike their hands against their thighs and the soles of their shoes. In Terento, both the local group and guest performers from the surrounding area take the stage, including children's groups and female ensembles.
Alongside the music, you will find South Tyrolean culinary specialties served at the village stalls: a perfect opportunity to savor the flavors of local cuisine in a convivial, open-air setting.
The Sommertreff is designed to be enjoyed by the whole family. For younger guests, there is a bouncy castle and face painting, while the free admission and the intimate setting of the village center make the evening suitable for all ages.
Terento sits on a sunny plateau at the foot of the Plan de Corones ski area, in a panoramic position above the Puster Valley. Its heritage as a mountain village, deeply rooted in folk music and Tyrolean customs, finds one of its most authentic expressions in the Sommertreff, which also attracts visitors vacationing in the Gitschberg Jochtal area.
