About Tour of Italy at the Table!

In Monsummano Terme, in the heart of the Valdinievole, the Slow Food Valdinievole Convivium celebrates Slow Food Day with the "Tour of Italy at the Table!" convivial dinner. An evening at the AUSER venue where four Italian regions—Tuscany, Sicily, Piedmont, and Lazio—share their stories through their dishes, upholding the values of good, clean, and fair food. A gastronomic event that blends conviviality, biodiversity, and local culture.

Slow Food Day in Valdinievole

Every year, for Slow Food Day, the Slow Food network brings Italy to life with dozens of initiatives dedicated to good, clean, and fair food. In Monsummano Terme, located in the heart of the Valdinievole in the province of Pistoia, the Slow Food Valdinievole Convivium joins the grand national celebration with an evening centered on conviviality and the promotion of Italian regional cuisines.

The event is held at the AUSER in Monsummano Terme and is part of the widespread Slow Food Day calendar, which in 2026 coincides with a special anniversary: the fortieth anniversary of Slow Food, the movement founded by Carlo Petrini that defends the right to pleasure, the protection of biodiversity, and the promotion of fairer and more sustainable food systems.

"Tour of Italy at the Table!": A Journey Through the Regions

The theme of the dinner is the "Tour of Italy at the Table!" format, a gastronomic journey that brings the culinary traditions of various regions of the Peninsula to the table. Each edition offers a selection of territories to discover dish after dish: the protagonists are Tuscany, Sicily, Piedmont, and Lazio, four cuisines that showcase the extraordinary variety of Italy's food and wine heritage.

The evening is designed as a meeting point for members, supporters, and curious food lovers: a participatory dinner with an associative and family-like atmosphere, where food becomes an opportunity to discuss short supply chains, local products, and conscious food culture. More than just a large public event, it is a convivial dinner that expresses the original spirit of Slow Food, built on shared tables and bonds between producers and consumers.

The Spirit of Slow Food

The philosophy inspiring the evening is that of the Slow Food movement: every dish is chosen to tell the story of a territory, a history, and a community of producers. It highlights local products, traditional recipes, and regional specialties, with a focus on respect for the environment and the work of those who cultivate, raise, and process food with care.

  • Themed dinners dedicated to Italian regional cuisines
  • Promotion of local products and food biodiversity
  • Conviviality and the culture of good, clean, and fair food
  • Promotion of the local Slow Food network in Valdinievole

Monsummano Terme and the Valdinievole

The event takes place in Monsummano Terme, a spa town in the province of Pistoia, Tuscany, known for its thermal baths and the Grotta Giusti. The Valdinievole is a land rich in gastronomic traditions and small-scale producers, making it the ideal setting for an initiative that focuses on food quality and the connection to the land. Participating in "Tour of Italy at the Table!" means enjoying an evening of taste and discovery while supporting the values of a network that has been promoting fairer and more sustainable nutrition for forty years.
