The spring season of dialect and amateur theatre at the Teatro Pecchenino in San Michele Mondovì
Sipario Aperto II is the second edition of the theatre festival promoted by the Athena Theatre Association at the Piter Pecchenino Municipal Theatre in San Michele Mondovì, a small town in the province of Cuneo, in Piedmont. Following the success of the first autumn season, which attracted over three hundred spectators, this spring event confirms the vocation of the local theatre: to provide a space for amateur and dialect companies from the region in a festive and shared atmosphere.
The festival took place between April and May 2026 with weekly performances, all starting at 9:00 PM. The schedule alternated between brilliant comedies, theatre in the Piedmontese dialect, and great classics of the Italian stage:
The management of the Piter Pecchenino Theatre is entrusted to the Athena Association, chaired by Elisabetta Nuzzo, which curates the programming under the patronage of the Municipality of San Michele Mondovì and in collaboration with the Piedmontese amateur theatre network (UILT Piemonte). The festival promotes the dialect and popular traditions of the Cuneo area, offering the public an accessible and high-quality program just a short distance from Mondovì.
Sipario Aperto was born with a popular spirit: affordable prices, subscription options, and a constant focus on involving the local community. The evenings at the Pecchenino have become a regular appointment for theatre enthusiasts from the Monregalese and Val Tanaro areas, in a small village that proves how culture can be a protagonist even far from the big cities.
The 2026 spring edition of Sipario Aperto II featured five shows at the Piter Pecchenino Theatre in San Michele Mondovì, all starting at 9:00 PM. The program: April 11 "Il circo del riciclo" (Magog Aps); April 24 "Stoma a Bene" (Banda Brusca of Bene Vagienna); May 7 "Tutta colpa di una Chat" (Fuori di Quinta of Vicoforte); May 14 "L'Uomo, la Bestia e la Virtù" by Pirandello (Servi di Scena of Mondovì); May 21 "Quella Bonanima" (Compagnia dell'Allegria of Mondovì).
