About Themed Carnival

The Silvi Marina Themed Carnival brings the heart of this Teramo town to life with a grand parade of allegorical floats traveling from the central Piazza Marconi to the Playa roundabout along the Abruzzo coast. Conceived by Vincenzo Guaglianone and Federica Cialini, the event fills the streets with live music, stilt walkers, bubble shows, mascots, and the beloved local symbol, the Fandoccio. It is a community celebration designed for families and children, keeping Silvi vibrant even outside the summer season.

The Silvi Marina Themed Carnival

The Themed Carnival is the masquerade festival that brings a splash of color every February to Silvi Marina, the coastal district of the town of Silvi, in the province of Teramo, in the heart of the Adriatic Abruzzo region. Conceived by Vincenzo Guaglianone and Federica Cialini, the event is organized by the Na'Marea and Selva Maris associations, with the patronage of the Municipality of Silvi and the support of the Italian Red Cross, Civil Protection, and local police.

The Allegorical Float Parade

The most anticipated moment is the grand allegorical float parade, which features masked groups from all over Abruzzo. The procession starts from the central Piazza Marconi, reaches the Playa roundabout along the seafront, and returns to the starting point, where a jury awards the three most original floats or groups. The parade is the centerpiece of a full day of entertainment: music, stilt walkers, bubble shows, mascots, and live dancing transform the town center into a large open-air stage.

The Fandoccio and the Spirit of the Festival

The symbol of the event is the Fandoccio, a mascot mask created to give the Silvi carnival a recognizable identity. The event was founded with the explicit goal of keeping Silvi alive beyond the tourist season, offering the community and visitors a gathering point in the heart of the Abruzzo winter.

A Carnival for Families

The Themed Carnival is designed primarily for families and children. Throughout the day, there are inflatables, face painting, cotton candy, and gadgets, as well as a large food and beverage area for lunch on-site. Participation in the parade is open to all groups who wish to dress up and join the fun.

Silvi and its Coast

Overlooking the Adriatic Sea and dominated by the historic village of Silvi Alta, Silvi Marina is one of the most popular seaside resorts on the Teramo coast. The Themed Carnival is an opportunity to rediscover the town in a festive and communal atmosphere, filled with popular traditions, folklore, and the typical liveliness of Abruzzo carnivals.
