The Carnival that brings the streets of Siculiana back to life
The Siculiana Carnival is the February festival that transforms the historic center of this village in the province of Agrigento into a vibrant, colorful stage. Masks, music, dance groups, and social gatherings bring the streets of this Sicilian town to life in a celebration that involves the entire community across all generations.
After years of absence, the Carnival has returned to Siculiana, reviving one of the most anticipated traditions for its residents. The return of the event saw massive participation, turning the town center into a festive space filled with color, joy, and a sense of togetherness. For the Municipality of Siculiana, the Carnival represents not just a party, but an opportunity to revive popular traditions and strengthen the local social fabric.
The heart of the event lies in the dance groups, choreographies, and masks that parade through the center. The organization, managed by the Municipal Youth Council, aims to build a participatory and inclusive festival that unites different generations: group registrations open well in advance to give everyone time to prepare and contribute to an event built together.
Siculiana, overlooking the Agrigento coast not far from the famous Siculiana Marina beach and the Torre Salsa Nature Reserve, is part of the rich carnival tradition of the province of Agrigento and Sicily, a land of great popular carnivals. Here, the festival retains a genuine, community-focused characterโfar from mass tourism, yet brimming with vitality, cheer, and local spirit.
With its parades, music, and entertainment, the Siculiana Carnival is designed for families and children, yet it manages to engage the entire village. It is a day of celebration where the historic center fills with color and voices, honoring the Carnival tradition in the heart of Sicily.
The 2026 edition of the Siculiana Carnival was a special event: the return of the festival after years of waiting. Organized by the Municipal Youth Council, the event took place in February 2026, enlivening the streets of the center with dance groups, masks, and music.
Dance group registrations were opened well in advance, with the goal of creating a participatory and inclusive festival built together with the community and capable of uniting different generations. The 2026 Carnival concluded with great participation: celebration, colors, and the desire to be together brought one of the most anticipated traditions back to life for the residents of Siculiana, in the province of Agrigento.
The festival takes place in the historic center of Siculiana (ZIP 92010), in the province of Agrigento, Sicily.
By car: Siculiana can be reached via the SS115 road, which connects Agrigento to Sciacca. The nearest airport is Palermo (Punta Raisi), about a two-hour drive away; alternatively, Catania-Fontanarossa is an option. The most convenient train station is in Agrigento, about twenty kilometers away, with connecting bus services.
Admission to the parades and entertainment is free. We recommend checking the official channels of the Siculiana Municipal Youth Council for updated dates and the program.
