About Sicily Scents and Flavors

Every summer, the Sicily Scents and Flavors Festival brings Piazza della Repubblica in Montevago to life, in the heart of the Belice Valley in the province of Agrigento. Organized by the local Pro Loco, the event is a tasting evening dedicated to typical local products: a gastronomic stroll through stalls filled with the aromas and specialties of the Sicilian tradition, accompanied by music and the convivial atmosphere typical of inland towns. A popular, free event that celebrates the rural identity and hospitality of this corner of western Sicily.

A festival dedicated to the flavors of the Belice Valley

The Sicily Scents and Flavors Festival is one of the most cherished summer events in Montevago, a small town in the province of Agrigento located in the Belice Valley, Sicily. Promoted by the Pro Loco of Montevago, the event transforms the central Piazza della Repubblica into a culinary trail where visitors can taste typical local products and dishes, in a festive atmosphere that attracts residents and tourists from the nearby towns of the Belice Valley and the Selinunte area.

Tastings and local products

The heart of the festival lies in the gastronomic stalls set up along the square, where you can sample specialties of the Sicilian tradition: baked goods, cheeses, cured meats, preserves, traditional sweets, and rustic recipes that tell the story of the area's agri-food culture. The evening, which usually takes place at night to enjoy the cool summer air, combines tastings with entertainment and music, in the true spirit of a local village festival.

Montevago and the Belice Valley

Montevago is a town rebuilt after the devastating 1968 Belice earthquake, and today it features wide, modern streets and squares. The town is also known for the Terme Acqua Pia, a sulfurous water spring nestled in the countryside, and for the ruins of the old town, destinations for slow and authentic tourism. The festival is an opportunity to discover this corner of western Sicily, amidst rural landscapes, food and wine traditions, and the warmth of the local community.

A popular and free event

Now in its many editions, the Sicily Scents and Flavors Festival confirms the role of the Pro Loco in promoting Montevago's traditions. Admission is free, and the informal format invites you to stroll among the stalls while savoring the area's specialties. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced: the event is traditionally held in August, in line with the summer festivities in Montevago.
