The SI Fest – Savignano Immagini Festival is one of the oldest and most recognized photography events in Italy. It was founded in 1992 in Savignano sul Rubicone, in the heart of Romagna in the province of Forlì-Cesena (Emilia-Romagna), under the name «Portfolio in Piazza»: a simple yet revolutionary idea, to bring photographers and expert reviewers together outdoors, in the town squares, to discuss projects. Since then, portfolio reviews have remained the beating heart of the festival, an indispensable showcase for emerging and established authors.

Exhibitions, authors, and perspectives on the world

Each edition of SI Fest revolves around a central theme and offers a rich programme of photography exhibitions, spread across the historic venues in the centre: the Vecchia Pescheria on Corso Vendemini, Palazzo Vendemini with the municipal library, the Monte di Pietà, and the town squares. Over the years, the festival has hosted major names in documentary and author photography, from international reportage to contemporary artistic research, building a constant dialogue between images, current events, and memory.

The 2026 edition: «Still Standing»

The 35th edition of SI Fest will be held from September 11 to 27, 2026, and will be titled «Still Standing». As tradition dictates, the festival will span multiple weekends, featuring exhibitions, talks, screenings, portfolio reviews, and educational activities. In 2026, SI Fest Kids will also be launched, the first edition of a photography festival entirely dedicated to children and young people, scheduled from September 25 to 27 with exhibitions, workshops, and school programmes.

A heritage for Savignano and Romagna

In addition to the September event, the Municipality of Savignano sul Rubicone preserves a vast photographic archive — over one hundred thousand documents including prints, negatives, and files — resulting from more than thirty years of campaigns, awards, and productions linked to the festival. SI Fest is part of the Sistema Festival Fotografia and represents a benchmark event for enthusiasts, professionals, and the curious who visit this small town in Emilia-Romagna along the Rubicone River each year.
