The urban art and regeneration festival that transforms Gambettola into an open-air museum
In Gambettola, a small and lively town in the province of Forlì-Cesena, in Emilia-Romagna, autumn brings an eagerly awaited event: Bosco - Urban Art Project. It's not just an exhibition, but a true festival of widespread urban art that offers a new interpretation of the territory and its community. The underlying idea is clear: to use contemporary art as a tool for urban regeneration, capable of restoring identity to places and strengthening the bond between people and the spaces they inhabit daily.
The festival unfolds around two main venues. The first is the Artists' Station, housed in the spaces of the old Gambettola railway station: this is where collective exhibitions, installations, and artist meetings take place. The second is the Urban Forest (in the Romagnol dialect "E' Bosch"), a green area that hosts land art works designed to interact with nature. Added to these are the streets and squares of the town center, where murals and poster art transform walls and gates into expressive surfaces: Gambettola thus becomes an open-air museum to be explored on foot.
The artistic offering is deliberately plural and embraces various languages of contemporary public art:
Bosco - Urban Art Project is conceived and curated by the association Circuiti Dinamici, with artistic direction by Sonia Patrizia Catena, Angela Molari, and Chiara Pavolucci. The event is sponsored by the Municipality of Gambettola and supported by the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Rubicone and Mare Union. Each edition revolves around a theme that links the works and meetings: over the years, topics such as "home," inhabiting places, and more recently, food as a mirror of civilization have been explored. The festival is also part of the broader cultural program "Il Bosco Ritrovato" (The Rediscovered Forest), the long summer of events that enlivens Gambettola from June to the end of October.
The seventh edition of Bosco - Urban Art Project returns to Gambettola from Saturday, October 3rd to Thursday, October 8th, 2026, with the inauguration set for Saturday, October 3rd at 5:00 PM. As tradition dictates, installations and events will be distributed between the festival's two historic venues: the Artists' Station and the Urban Forest. This event marks the conclusion of the extensive cultural program "Il Bosco Ritrovato 2026" (The Rediscovered Forest), which enlivens Gambettola with over fifty events from June to the end of October.
The detailed program for the seventh edition, including this year's theme, the list of artists, and the schedule of exhibitions, murals, and meetings, will be announced by the association Circuiti Dinamici in the weeks leading up to the event.
