About Happennino

Happennino is the widespread cultural and environmental festival that every September enlivens the small villages of the Marche Apennines, in the hinterland of the province of Pesaro and Urbino. Lunano, which joined the network in 2025, is one of the stops on this review that combines concerts, meetings, shows, nature treks, exhibitions, and food and wine experiences to rediscover places and communities far from the most beaten tourist routes.

A widespread festival in the Marche mountains

Happennino is one of the most original cultural experiences in the Marche hinterland: not a festival concentrated in a single square, but a widespread review that unfolds over several September weekends through a network of small Apennine municipalities, in the heart of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino. The underlying idea is both simple and ambitious: to use contemporary culture to re-establish the link between people and the often-forgotten inland territories, and to transform the landscape and identity heritage of these villages into a living experience.

The role of Lunano

The small Municipality of Lunano, nestled on the slopes of Monte Illuminato in the upper Foglia Valley, joined the Happennino network in 2025, even hosting the inaugural event of the eighth edition. For a town of a few thousand inhabitants, this means becoming, for a few days, a cultural stage of national significance, capable of attracting writers, musicians, and hikers through its streets and most evocative places, such as the area of the Convent of Monte Illuminato.

What to expect

Happennino's program is deliberately multidisciplinary and designed for those who love to combine the discovery of places with encounters with artists and thinkers. Among the recurring proposals of the festival, you will find:

  • Concerts by Italian singer-songwriters and musicians, often set in natural surroundings or village squares;
  • Thematic meetings and discussions with writers, journalists, and communicators;
  • Performative shows and theatrical monologues;
  • Nature treks and guided excursions to discover the Apennines;
  • Exhibitions and food and wine events dedicated to local products.

A network of villages that builds community

Happennino's strength lies in its being a true collaborative ecosystem: Municipalities, associations, organizations, and citizens work together to build something that lasts beyond the festival days. In its editions, Lunano shares the lineup with other hinterland villages such as Mercatello sul Metauro, Borgo Pace, Sant'Angelo in Vado, Peglio, Piobbico, Apecchio, and Carpegna, on a journey that invites visitors to move from one town to another and experience the Marche Apennines in their most authentic dimension.

Happennino — edition 2026

The ninth edition of Happennino is confirmed for September 2026 and will once again enliven the villages of the Pesaro and Urbino hinterland, including Lunano. The organizers have already announced a rich lineup of guests, while the detailed schedule with dates and locations of individual events will be published on the official website in the weeks preceding the festival.

In 2026, Happennino celebrates its ninth edition, confirming the formula of the widespread festival over several September weekends among the villages of the Marche Apennines, with Lunano among the participating municipalities along with Mercatello sul Metauro, Borgo Pace, Sant'Angelo in Vado, Carpegna, Apecchio, and Peglio.
