Batanài tra le mura is the exhibition of crafts, antiques, and modern items that enlivens the historic center of Urbino, in the heart of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, in the Marche region. The event takes place along Corso Garibaldi and in Piazza San Francesco, at the foot of the Ducal Palace, in one of the best-preserved Renaissance centers in Italy, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.

What "batanài" means

The name comes from the Urbino dialect: with the word "batanài", locals refer to objects and knick-knacks considered not very useful, those trinkets that artisans and enthusiasts, with creativity and skilled hands, know how to revive, giving them new life. This is precisely the spirit of the market: rediscovering the value of things, through restoration, vintage, and tradition.

What you can find at the stalls

Strolling among the exhibitors, you'll find unique handmade objects, antique furniture and accessories, vinyl records, books, prints, vintage clothing and accessories, modern items, hobby supplies, and many original gift ideas. Alongside the stalls, on market days, the historic center often offers open museums, shows, and entertainment that make the visit even more enjoyable.

An event that returns all year round

Organized by the Pro Loco of Urbino, Batanài tra le mura is not a one-off event but a series spread throughout the year: traditionally held on the first Sunday of each month and on major holiday weekends (Easter, April 25th and May 1st long weekends, Christmas holidays). The calendar is designed to accompany the seasons and give visitors another good reason to visit the city of Raphael.
