When spring arrives, the historic center of Scarnafigi — a small town in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont, in the heart of the Saluzzo plains — comes alive for its Spring Fair, an event that has been attracting visitors from across the Granda region for over thirty years. Organized by the Pro Loco in collaboration with the Municipality, the fair has established Scarnafigi as a true City of Cheese, with a program celebrating the three PDO cheeses that symbolize this corner of Piedmont.
The star PDO cheeses
The heart of the Spring Fair lies in the local dairy excellence: Bra PDO, Raschera PDO, and Toma Piemontese PDO. Along the town streets, you will find tasting and sales stalls where you can sample and purchase wheels produced by local dairies. A particularly heartfelt moment is the presentation of cheese wheels to the town's newborns and high-achieving students: a symbolic gesture to connect new generations with the dairy tradition of Scarnafigi.
Markets, exhibitions, and shows
For two days, the squares and streets of the center are filled with street stalls, wooden craft stands, antique exhibitors, and a flea market run by children. There is no shortage of exhibitions — from contemporary art in the Nino Parola hall to the colorful ScarnaBrick Lego display in the municipal gym — nor performances, such as the FantaParco with its bird of prey flight demonstrations and music from local choirs and the town band. An event designed for the whole family, held outdoors and free of charge.
Dining on the flavors of the Saluzzo plains
On Sunday, the aroma filling Via Principe Amedeo is that of the traditional 'Lunch with Gnocchi', featuring gnocchi dressed in local cheeses and sauce, prepared by the Pro Loco chefs. It is the perfect opportunity to discover the rustic cuisine of Scarnafigi and the entire province of Cuneo, in a festive and convivial atmosphere that is the hallmark of this Piedmontese spring fair.
Spring Fair — edition 2026
La 32ª edizione della Fiera di Primavera di Scarnafigi si è tenuta il 21 e 22 marzo 2026, confermando la formula collaudata della due giorni dedicata alle eccellenze casearie del territorio. Organizzata dalla Pro Loco e dal Comune, la fiera ha ribadito il titolo di Scarnafigi come Città dei Formaggi, con Bra, Raschera e Toma Piemontese DOP protagonisti tra degustazioni, premiazioni e momenti di festa.
L'inaugurazione ufficiale si è svolta sabato alle 15:30 in Piazza Parrocchia, mentre la domenica le vie del paese si sono riempite di bancarelle, mostre e spettacoli, fino al pranzo tipico "A pranzo col gnocco" in via Principe Amedeo.
Programme Spring Fair 2026
Sabato 21 marzo
- 15:30 — Piazza Parrocchia: inaugurazione ufficiale con taglio del nastro (speaker Sonia De Castelli) e premiazione dei nati nel 2025 e degli studenti meritevoli, con consegna di forme di Bra, Raschera e Toma Piemontese DOP
- Pomeriggio — Sala d'arte Nino Parola: mostra "Geografie Interiori" con opere di Roberto Andreoli, Carlo Iorletti e Marino Felix
- 16:00-19:30 — Palestra comunale di via Roma: ScarnaBrick, mostra di costruzioni Lego con diorami e collezioni
- 21:00 — Cinema Lux: proiezione gratuita del film "Onde di Terra"
Domenica 22 marzo
- 8:00 — Vie del paese: bancarelle ambulanti, mercatino delle pulci dei bambini, stand di artigiani e antiquariato
- 11:30 e 15:00 — Palestra comunale: FantaParco, spettacolo con i rapaci e dimostrazioni di volo
- 12:00 — Via Principe Amedeo: pranzo tipico "A pranzo col gnocco" con gnocchi ai formaggi e al sugo
- 14:00 — Vie del paese: esibizioni delle corali popolari J'Amis d'la Furnaca, Dal Vej al Giou e Sòcio d'la bira
- 15:30 — Sfilata della Vigoneisa International Show Band di Vigone

Practical information — Spring Fair
When
The Spring Fair traditionally takes place in March or April, over a weekend (Saturday and Sunday). The 2026 edition was held on March 21st and 22nd.
Where
Historic center of Scarnafigi (CN), including Piazza Parrocchia, the town streets, the municipal gym on Via Roma, the Nino Parola art hall, the Cinema Lux, and Via Principe Amedeo for lunch.
How to get there
Scarnafigi is located in the Saluzzo plains, in the province of Cuneo. It can be reached by car from Saluzzo and Savigliano via provincial roads. The nearest train station is in Savigliano, on the Turin–Cuneo line.
Admission
Access to the fair, exhibitions, and shows is free. The traditional Sunday lunch requires a reservation.
