About Saxophonia Concerts

Saxophonia Concerts is the annual music review promoted by Ateneo Musica Basilicata in Sasso di Castalda (PZ), hosted in the halls of Palazzo De Luca. Six events from October to March dedicated to classical and chamber music, from the great repertoire to contemporary authors, bringing a quality concert season to a village in the Lucanian Apennines.

Classical music arrives in the village

That great chamber music can find a home in a village in the Lucanian Apennines is not a given, and this is precisely what makes the Saxophonia Concerts review so precious. In Sasso di Castalda, in the province of Potenza, Ateneo Musica Basilicata brings a concert season to the elegant halls of Palazzo De Luca every year, transforming the historic palace into a refined musical salon.

Six events between autumn and spring

The review is divided into six concerts spread from October to March, accompanying the village through the colder months with a program that ranges from the classical to the contemporary repertoire. From the salon music of the late 19th century to the pages of the 20th century, from chamber ensembles to more experimental proposals, each evening offers a sonic journey designed for a curious and attentive audience.

A cultural outpost for the Apennines

Promoted by Ateneo Musica Basilicata, a historic entity for musical training and dissemination in the region, the review has the merit of bringing quality music far from the big cities, to a small municipality that uses culture as a tool for vitality and attraction. Saxophonia Concerts has thus become an anticipated event of the Lucanian cold season, capable of combining artistic quality and local roots.
