The food and wine walk through the hills of Casalgrande
Sapori Panoramici is the non-competitive food and wine walk that animates the hills of Casalgrande every spring, a municipality in the province of Reggio Emilia, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna. Organized by the Pro Loco of Casalgrande with the patronage and support of the Municipality, the initiative is designed for those who want to discover the territory by walking at a leisurely pace, stopping at each stage to taste local typical products.
The route is about seven kilometers long along the hilly paths surrounding the town, starting and ending at the Castello di Casalgrande, the ancient 15th-century fortress that overlooks Casalgrande Alto. Among the most evocative points of the route is the Big Bench viola, one of the large panoramic benches that allow you to take in the view of the Reggio Emilia plain and the Apennines in the background. The walk is accompanied by AIGAE-associated environmental hiking guides, who tell the story and nature of the territory.
The true common thread of the day is taste. Along the route, there are several refreshment stops where participants can taste the food and wine excellences of the province: Spergola, a native grape variety of Reggio Emilia, Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, and balsamic vinegar. The experience concludes with a convivial lunch in the castle setting, featuring lasagna, tigelle with cured meats, and ice cream, amidst history and music.
More than just a hike, Sapori Panoramici is an opportunity for socialization and territory enhancement, born from the collaboration between the Pro Loco, the Casalgrande Municipal Administration, and local associations such as the Alpini and EMA. Participation is limited and booking is mandatory: an intimate format that makes the experience even more authentic.
The 2026 edition of Sapori Panoramici, the third, was held on Sunday, May 24, 2026, starting at 9:00 AM from the Castello di Casalgrande. The route, approximately seven kilometers through the hilly paths, included the Big Bench viola and several refreshment stops.
