The festival of taste and typical products of Modena in Piazza Grande
La Bonissima is the autumn event that celebrates the food and wine excellences of the Modenese territory in the heart of the historic center of Modena, in Piazza Grande, the enchanting setting recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site along with the Cathedral and the Ghirlandina Tower. For three days, the square comes alive with stalls, aromas, and tastings, becoming the ideal stage to discover the most representative products of the province.
The festival brings together over 600 food specialties offered by more than 30 local producers and artisans. Among the protagonists, the great symbols of Modenese and Emilian gastronomy cannot be missed: Parmigiano Reggiano, Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, tortellini, tigelle, gnocco fritto, borlenghi, cured meats, mostarda fina di Carpi, and an infinity of desserts and delicacies. A true map of taste that tells the identity of a land famous worldwide for its cuisine.
La Bonissima is not just a market: it's an experience that engages all the senses. The program includes show cooking with chefs and masters of local cuisine, guided tastings, workshops, and gastronomic contests. Among the most anticipated events is the Palio del Parmigiano Reggiano, the competition that awards the best cheeses from the plains and mountains dairies belonging to the Consortium, with awards dedicated to different aging periods.
Organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Modena, La Bonissima is a free admission event that attracts visitors from all over Emilia-Romagna and Italy, contributing to the valorization of the city's cultural and gastronomic heritage. Included in the Modena City of Festivals calendar, it represents one of the most delicious opportunities to experience the historic center and immerse yourself in the food and wine tradition of this generous land.
