The historic market fair and funfair in the heart of Rubiera
The June Fair is one of the most deeply rooted events in the calendar of Rubiera, a town in the province of Reggio Emilia overlooking the Via Emilia, in Emilia-Romagna. Along with its twin, the September Fair, it has always marked the moments of collective celebration in the town. The fair traditionally takes place on the second Sunday of June, when the historic center transforms into a large pedestrian area dedicated to markets and entertainment.
The heart of the event is the special market that winds along Via Emilia Ovest, Piazza XXIV Maggio, and Piazza Gramsci. The exhibition stalls—around fifty, organized in collaboration with public market operators—are open all day, from early morning until evening. Among the stalls, you can find a bit of everything:
It's the perfect opportunity for a stroll through the town's streets, looking for a bargain or simply soaking up the lively atmosphere of the local festival.
Accompanying the market is the funfair, set up in the area of Piazza del Popolo and Viale Aldo Moro. The rides and attractions—from bumper cars and shooting galleries to classic fun for the little ones—remain operational for much longer than just the fair day: the funfair actually opens on the Wednesday before the second Sunday and stays open until the following Monday, for a total of about six days of festivities.
The June Fair is not just a market: it's a gathering moment for the entire Rubiera community, often enriched by cultural initiatives, exhibitions, and side events organized by the Municipality of Rubiera in the town's spaces, from Don Andreoli Park to the civic halls. A popular and family-friendly event that continues to attract residents and visitors from the nearby municipalities of the ceramic district and the lower Reggio Emilia area.
The 2026 June Fair confirms the usual second Sunday of the month appointment. The fair market enlivens the streets of Rubiera's historic center on Sunday, June 14, while the funfair attractions open as early as Wednesday, June 10, and remain active until Monday, June 15.
As tradition dictates, the event is accompanied by cultural initiatives and side events promoted by the Municipality of Rubiera in the town's spaces and Don Andreoli Park.
The schedule of collateral cultural events (exhibitions, talks, initiatives in civic halls and Don Andreoli Park) will be published by the Municipality of Rubiera in the weeks preceding the fair.
