An evening of solidarity featuring traditional Christmas carols in Latiano
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In the heart of the Christmas season, the Santo Stefano Concert has become a well-established tradition for Latiano, a town in the province of Brindisi, Puglia. Every December 26th, the day the Church celebrates Saint Stephen, the community gathers in the evocative Church of Sant'Antonio in the historic center for an evening that is both a concert and an act of generosity.
The initiative, which reached its twenty-ninth edition in 2025, is organized by the Pro Loco Latiano Association with the patronage of the City of Latiano. It is part of the Magico Natale (Magical Christmas) calendar of events, which accompanies the town from Advent through to Epiphany.
The hallmark of the Santo Stefano Concert is its charitable nature: admission is free, and the donations collected during the evening are entirely donated to the Caritas of Latiano to support local individuals and families facing hardship. Music thus becomes a vehicle for sharing, in perfect harmony with the message of Christmas.
Every year, the event hosts artists and ensembles dedicated to the folk music of Southern Italy. Through ancient melodies, the repertoire recounts the journey and hardships faced by the Holy Family leading up to the Nativity, alternating between spoken word, music, and storytelling. It is a tapestry of traditional Christmas carols, from Sicily to Campania, rediscovering the most authentic roots of Christmas in the Mezzogiorno.
Latiano, nestled between the Messapian plain and the countryside of northern Salento, preserves a rich heritage of traditions. During the holidays, the center comes alive with lights, nativity scenes, and cultural events, and the Santo Stefano Concert represents one of the most heartfelt and well-attended moments, capable of bringing different generations together in the spirit of music and solidarity.
The dates and program for the 2026 edition of the Santo Stefano Concert in Latiano have not yet been announced. The evening, organized by the Pro Loco Latiano, is part of the annual Magico Natale calendar and maintains its character as a charity concert for the local Caritas. Information will be updated as soon as the organizers release official details.
