The Christmas festival in Leverano, in the heart of Salento
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
A Christmas for Everyone is the festival that lights up the holidays every winter in Leverano, a town in the province of Lecce, in Salento, Puglia. Established in 2022 by the Municipality of Leverano, the event has quickly become the most anticipated cultural appointment of the cold season: a widespread program that, between late November and Epiphany, turns squares, courtyards, and cultural venues into stages for the community.
The core theme of the festival is the desire to bring culture out of traditional spaces and under the lights of the historic center. The symbolic opening moment is the lighting of the Christmas tree in Piazza Roma, accompanied by music, choirs, and the participation of local schools and the Youth City Council. From there, for weeks, events multiply between the square, the Municipal Theater, and exhibition spaces like the Palazzo ex Combattenti.
The program weaves together different languages to speak to an intergenerational audience:
Alongside the shows, "A Christmas for Everyone" offers photography exhibitions dedicated to the memory and identity of Leverano, creative workshops for children, charity markets, and moments of sharing that strengthen the communal character of the festival. It is a Christmas that focuses on participation rather than consumption, with most events offering free admission.
The event is directed by the Municipality of Leverano, which involves local associations, schools, and theater companies in building the calendar. Over the years, the festival has collaborated with Salento cultural entities active in theater and cinema, confirming itself as a project rooted in the community and capable of enhancing the town's public spaces.
The dates and program for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the Municipality of Leverano. As every year, the full schedule is made public in the weeks immediately preceding the start of the festival, traditionally scheduled for late November. This page will be updated as soon as the calendar and official program are released.
