About A Christmas for Everyone

Every year, from late November until Epiphany, Leverano transforms into a festive village with "A Christmas for Everyone," the Christmas festival promoted by the Municipality in the heart of Salento. Children's theater, concerts, photography exhibitions, workshops, charity markets, and family film screenings bring the squares and the Municipal Theater to life, almost always with free admission. A widespread program designed for all ages, featuring lights, traditions, and local culture.

Christmas in Leverano in the heart of Salento

A Christmas for Everyone is the festival that lights up the holidays every winter in Leverano, a town in the province of Lecce, in Salento, Puglia. Established in 2022 by the Municipality of Leverano, the event has quickly become the most anticipated cultural appointment of the cold season: a widespread program that, between late November and Epiphany, turns squares, courtyards, and cultural venues into stages for the community.

A widespread program across squares and the Municipal Theater

The core theme of the festival is the desire to bring culture out of traditional spaces and under the lights of the historic center. The symbolic opening moment is the lighting of the Christmas tree in Piazza Roma, accompanied by music, choirs, and the participation of local schools and the Youth City Council. From there, for weeks, events multiply between the square, the Municipal Theater, and exhibition spaces like the Palazzo ex Combattenti.

Theater, music, and cinema for all ages

The program weaves together different languages to speak to an intergenerational audience:

  • Theater for children and families at the Municipal Theater, with companies and shows designed for the little ones;
  • Live music concerts, ranging from singer-songwriter performances to brass bands and wind ensembles;
  • Cinema and snacks, the series of film screenings for children and families curated in collaboration with local Salento organizations.

Exhibitions, workshops, and charity markets

Alongside the shows, "A Christmas for Everyone" offers photography exhibitions dedicated to the memory and identity of Leverano, creative workshops for children, charity markets, and moments of sharing that strengthen the communal character of the festival. It is a Christmas that focuses on participation rather than consumption, with most events offering free admission.

A project by the Municipality of Leverano

The event is directed by the Municipality of Leverano, which involves local associations, schools, and theater companies in building the calendar. Over the years, the festival has collaborated with Salento cultural entities active in theater and cinema, confirming itself as a project rooted in the community and capable of enhancing the town's public spaces.

As every year, the full schedule is made public in the weeks immediately preceding the start of the festival, traditionally scheduled for late November.
