A month of markets, lights, and traditions in the heart of the Adriatic capital

Brindisi Christmas City is the grand Christmas programme that brings the historic centre of the Apulian capital to life every year between early December and Epiphany. Promoted by the Municipality of Brindisi in collaboration with the Fondazione Nuovo Teatro Verdi and local associations, the programme combines markets, shows, concerts, children's workshops, and ancient religious traditions, spreading across squares, courtyards, cloisters, and iconic landmarks of the city overlooking the Adriatic.
The heart of the event is the Christmas market, featuring wooden stalls set up between Piazza Vittoria and the Corte degli Artigiani, located in the former Convento delle Scuole Pie on Via Giovanni Tarantini. Every day, from the afternoon until the evening, the stalls offer local crafts, nativity decorations, traditional Apulian products, sweets, and fried pastries. Admission is free, and the atmosphere invites visitors of all ages to enjoy a stroll amidst lights and scents.
In the cloister of the former Convento delle Scuole Pie, the Casa di Quartiere Accademia degli Erranti, together with Slow Food Brindisi, presents the "L'Inverno Errante" festival: the Earth Markets on weekends, featuring local producers and short supply chains, are accompanied by almond pastry workshops, Christmas-themed art workshops, theatrical performances, and community gatherings.
The switching on of the festive lights and the grand tree marks the start of the celebrations, illuminating Piazza Duomo, Corso Garibaldi, and the seafront. Among the most beloved stops are Santa's Village, with its toy factory and workshops for children, the scenic nativity scene set up at the Bastione San Giacomo, and the living nativity scene in the Sant'Elia district, which recreates ancient crafts and scenes of the Nativity. The programme also includes concerts at the Nuovo Teatro Verdi, roving performances in the centre, and gastronomic appointments that accompany the city until the Befana festival and the Magi procession.
More than just a festival, Brindisi Christmas City is a story of lights, voices, and community that restores the historic centre's role as a meeting place. For an entire month, the Province of Brindisi and all of Puglia find one of the most heartfelt Christmas experiences in northern Salento in the Adriatic capital.
The 2026 edition of Brindisi Christmas City has not yet been officially announced. Based on previous editions, the event is expected to bring the historic centre of Brindisi to life between December and January 6th, with artisan markets, local products, festive lights, Santa's Village, the living nativity scene, and the L'Inverno Errante festival. Dates, times, and the full programme will be published by the Municipality of Brindisi during the autumn months.
By train: Brindisi Centrale station is just a few minutes' walk from the historic centre and the event squares. By plane: Brindisi's Aeroporto del Salento is approximately 6 km from the centre. By car: from the A14 motorway (Bari exit), continue on the SS379 towards Brindisi.
The markets and most events in the squares have free admission, generally operating from late afternoon until the evening. Some concerts at the Nuovo Teatro Verdi require a symbolic ticket (starting from approximately 3 euros). It is recommended to check updated dates and times on the Municipality of Brindisi website.
