About Natale Incanta

Every year, from mid-December to the end of January, Ceglie Messapica transforms into an enchanted village with "Natale Incanta": a rich calendar of lights, markets, concerts, theatrical performances, and family events. The heart of the festival is the Fantastic Village at Villa Cento Pini and the evocative Living Nativity, which brings the medieval historic center to life with around twenty stations dedicated to ancient crafts. This widespread event is promoted by the Municipality, the Maria SS. Assunta Parish, and the Pro Loco in the heart of the Itria Valley, in the province of Brindisi.

Christmas in the Itria Valley village

Natale Incanta is the major Christmas program of the Municipality of Ceglie Messapica, one of the oldest villages in Puglia, nestled among the olive trees of the Itria Valley in the province of Brindisi. For over a month, from the lighting of the decorations in mid-December to the final events in late January, the medieval historic center with its cobblestone streets and whitewashed houses becomes the stage for a widespread festival filled with popular traditions, music, theater, and moments of spirituality.

The Fantastic Village at Villa Cento Pini

The beating heart of the event is the Fantastic Village, set up in the green surroundings of Villa Cento Pini. Here, you will find Santa's House, an ice rink, creative workshops for children, craft markets, and street food. The village is enlivened by concerts, Christmas carols, magic shows, silent discos, wandering bands, and traditional gastronomic events such as the tombola with pettolata.

The Living Nativity in the historic center

The most anticipated moment is the Living Nativity, which winds through the alleys of the historic center with about twenty stations. The small houses and ancient workshops bring the daily life of the past and ancient crafts back to life: artisans, tailors, carpenters, and blacksmiths, in a journey that combines popular faith with the town's memory. The nativity is usually performed on the symbolic days of the period, from St. Stephen's Day to the Epiphany.

Theater, music, and culture

Alongside the outdoor events, the program offers a rich season at the Municipal Theater and the Ducal Castle, featuring plays, contemporary circus, sacred and pop music concerts, photography exhibitions, and book presentations. There is no shortage of public events for New Year's Eve in Piazza Plebiscito and the Befana celebration for the Epiphany.

A Christmas for the whole community

Promoted by the Municipal Administration of Ceglie Messapica together with the Maria SS. Assunta Parish, the Pro Loco, and numerous local associations, Natale Incanta is designed as a festival open to residents and visitors, with most events free of charge. It is an opportunity to discover the charm of a Messapian village during the most evocative time of the year.
