The patronal feast of the village of Amblar in Val di Non
The San Vigilio Festival is the most cherished event in the village of Amblar, a small hamlet in the municipality of Amblar-Don, perched at an altitude of 980 meters in the upper Val di Non, at the foot of Monte Roen. The festival celebrates Saint Vigilius, the bishop and martyr who is the patron saint of the city and diocese of Trento, whose liturgical feast falls on June 26th. Around this date, the community gathers for a few days of celebration that blend faith, tradition, and conviviality.
The center of the event is the Parco Conca Verde, the village's green space featuring a bocce court, where musical evenings, outdoor pizza nights, and the community lunch take place. Immersed in the forests surrounding Amblar, the park offers a simple and authentic natural setting, far from mass tourism, with views of the peaks of Monte Luco, the Maddalene, Monte Peller, and the Brenta group.
Among the most traditional moments of the festival are the evenings of mountain singing, featuring performances by local choirs that showcase the repertoire of the Trentino alpine tradition. There are also more festive evenings with live music, pizza baked on-site, and local dishes prepared by the volunteers of the Pro Loco Amblar, who have been organizing the event for decades.
The spiritual heart of the festival is the Holy Mass in the parish church of San Vigilio, a building constructed between 1845 and 1847, followed by the community lunch and entertainment for children in the afternoon. The festival is also an opportunity to strengthen village ties: in 2025, the Pro Loco Amblar celebrated its 60th anniversary with a photo exhibition dedicated to the history of the association.
The San Vigilio Festival represents a small but precious piece of the rich calendar of patronal feasts that enliven the villages of Val di Non and the entire Trentino-Alto Adige region during the summer.
The 2026 San Vigilio Festival returns to enliven the village of Amblar (municipality of Amblar-Don, Val di Non) for the patronal feast on June 26th, the day dedicated to Saint Vigilius, bishop and martyr of Trento. The event is organized by Pro Loco Amblar at Parco Conca Verde.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition, including evening schedules, guest choirs, and social gatherings, will be released by Pro Loco Amblar in the weeks leading up to the event. As per tradition, the festival includes evenings of mountain singing, live music, outdoor pizza, Holy Mass, and a community lunch.
Amblar-Don can be reached by car from the SS43 road in Val di Non, taking the turn-off towards the Predaia plateau; it is about 45 km from Trento. The nearest train station is served by the Trento-Malè railway (Trentino Trasporti), with connections by bus or car.
The events are held mainly at the Parco Conca Verde in Amblar and in the parish church of San Vigilio.
The festival evenings generally have free admission; pizza, lunch, and drinks are available for purchase at the Pro Loco stands.
