The historic agricultural fair of Caselette featuring Pezzata Rossa cattle, tractors, and local farm-to-table products
In the heart of the Susa Valley, at the foot of Mount Musinè and just a few kilometers from Turin, the Municipality of Caselette (Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont) celebrates the San Giorgio Fair every year, an event dedicated to the town's patron saint. It is one of the most cherished agricultural fairs in the western belt of the Piedmontese capital: an appointment that for generations has brought together breeders, farmers, families, and enthusiasts around the area's rural roots.
The heart of the fair is the Regional Exhibition of Italian Pezzata Rossa cattle, organized in collaboration with ARAP - the Regional Breeders Association of Piedmont. Dozens of animals from local farms parade before the public for morphological evaluation by an official judge, followed by the awarding of the best specimens. It is a precious opportunity to discover the work of breeders and the genetic value of one of the most representative breeds of Piedmontese agriculture.
Alongside the livestock exhibition, the San Giorgio Fair offers the classic agricultural machinery display, featuring tractors, equipment, and farm implements, as well as the farmers' market showcasing local products from the Campagna Amica - Coldiretti network. There is no shortage of cheesemaking demonstrations, tastings of local specialties, live music, and games for children, making the day a true village festival.
The fair is also an opportunity to discover the historical heritage of Caselette: during the event, free guided tours of the Roman Villa and the Primavalle natural area are organized, led by an archaeologist and volunteers from the ArCA association. A way to weave together livestock farming, gastronomy, and culture in a single weekend.
The San Giorgio Fair represents a defining event for Caselette and the entire lower Susa Valley, capable of promoting local agriculture and welcoming thousands of visitors every year in a friendly and authentic atmosphere.
The 2026 edition of the San Giorgio Fair was spread over two days, with the Regional Exhibition of Italian Pezzata Rossa cattle, curated by ARAP Piedmont, as the main highlight.
Throughout the day: display of tractors and agricultural machinery, local farmers' market from Campagna Amica - Coldiretti, live music, and children's games.
