The Turin Book Fair's 'Salone Off' events spread throughout the town of Pianezza
The Salone del Libro OFF in Pianezza is the local iteration of the Salone Off, the extensive programme that has accompanied the Turin International Book Fair for over twenty years, taking culture beyond the Lingotto exhibition centre. Each year, the Salone Off engages Turin's neighbourhoods, around thirty municipalities in the Metropolitan City, and numerous locations across Piedmont, featuring over a thousand events in hundreds of unconventional spaces: bookshops, shops, museums, parks, cinemas, and theatres.
In Pianezza, located in the heart of the Metropolitan City of Turin and the Piedmont Region, the events are organised by the INSIEME cambiamo PIANEZZA association, which has been offering a network of gatherings in local venues and municipal spaces for several years.
The formula of the Salone Off in Pianezza follows the festival's classic approach: events do not take place in a single venue but are distributed throughout the town, from bistros and commercial businesses to the local multiplex cinema. This allows for an informal and participatory cultural experience, bringing readers closer to authors in a convivial atmosphere.
The programme alternates book presentations, debates, screenings, and discussion sessions, with particular attention given to young authors and the involvement of schools and students. Most events are free to attend.
Recent editions have brought nationally renowned writers to Pianezza alongside emerging young voices. Guests have included journalist and author Francesca Barra, alongside presentations dedicated to contemporary novels and meetings designed for younger audiences.
The Salone del Libro OFF in Pianezza confirms the Turin festival's commitment to making reading a widespread and shared experience, capable of enlivening even the towns of the Province of Turin.
The 2026 edition of the Salone del Libro OFF in Pianezza was held from 8 to 19 May 2026, within the Salone Off of the Turin International Book Fair.
The programme, curated by the INSIEME cambiamo PIANEZZA association, featured: on 8 May, a screening of the film La vita da grandi at the Multisala Lumiรจre; on 11 May, at the Fattoria del Gelato, a meeting with young authors Mattia Remolif and Alice Testa; on 13 May, author Antiniska Pozzi at the AgriBiscotto Bakery Bistrot with her novel Tanto domani muori; and on 14 May at 8:30 PM, at Barrocco, journalist and author Francesca Barra with her book Il no che vorrei dirti.
Among the most anticipated events was the 14 May meeting with journalist and author Francesca Barra, hosted at Barrocco in Pianezza to present her book Il no che vorrei dirti.
The Salone OFF events in Pianezza (Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont) take place in various locations across the municipal area: local venues, bistros, commercial businesses, and the town's multiplex cinema.
Pianezza is located a few kilometres west of Turin. It can be reached by car via the Turin ring road; by public transport, it is connected to the city centre via the metropolitan area's suburban bus lines.
