The patronal feast of Mirabello Monferrato blending faith, tradition, and conviviality
The Saint Vincent Festival is the most significant event in the civil and religious calendar of Mirabello Monferrato, a small town in the Province of Alessandria nestled in the hills of Monferrato, Piedmont. The festival is dedicated to Saint Vincent the Martyr, the town's patron saint, whose feast day falls on January 22nd. Celebrations are typically held on the last Sunday of the month, when the entire community comes together to honor their protector.
The heart of the day is the solemn mass celebrated in the parish church dedicated to Saint Vincent, a moment of deep popular participation attended by local residents, civil authorities, and the local Alpini group. Following the service, weather permitting, the traditional procession carrying the saint's statue winds through the village streets, accompanied by the ringing of bells and the devotion of the entire citizenry.
Each year, the festival takes on a significance that transcends ritual: it is an opportunity for the community to renew its bond with its roots and the parish, the guardian of a tradition passed down through generations.
After the religious ceremonies, the festival continues in a spirit of conviviality. The Pro Loco of Mirabello Monferrato organizes a community lunch open to everyone, hosted in the oratory on Via Maria Ausiliatrice. It is a time for villagers, families, and guests to gather around the table to share the flavors of Piedmontese and Monferrato cuisine, in the warm, family-like atmosphere that has always been the hallmark of this day.
Held in the heart of winter, the Saint Vincent Festival is one of the most anticipated social events in Mirabello Monferrato. In a region famous for its wines and its hilly landscape—a UNESCO World Heritage site—the patronal feast offers a chance to discover the authenticity of a village that preserves the strong sense of community and hospitality typical of Monferrato.
The 2026 edition of the Saint Vincent Festival in Mirabello Monferrato was celebrated on Sunday, January 25th. The solemn mass in the parish church was presided over by Father Emile Ollo, and concelebrated by Father Simon and Deacon Ivan, in the presence of the faithful, civil authorities, and the Alpini group. During the celebration, Mayor Marco Ricaldone presented Father Emile with a parchment to mark his twenty-five years of priesthood, twelve of which have been spent serving the Mirabello community. Following the service, the traditional procession with the statue of Saint Vincent the Martyr took place through the village streets, followed by the community lunch organized by the Pro Loco in the oratory on Via Maria Ausiliatrice.
