Three days of Apulian flavors, music, and traditions in the heart of the Quartiere Cristo in Alessandria
Every summer, the Quartiere Cristo in Alessandria, in the province of the same name in Piedmont, dresses up in the colors and scents of the South with the 'Viva la Puglia' Festival. For three days, the Piazzale Unes on Corso Acqui becomes a small open-air Apulian village, where the traditions of Salento and the entire region are celebrated through food, music, and folk dances.
The heart of the festival is Apulian street food, prepared according to traditional recipes. Among the most beloved specialties are bombette di Martina Franca and orecchiette with turnip tops, accompanied by local products and craft beer. The seating areas, often covered, allow visitors to enjoy lunch and dinner in a convivial atmosphere.
The soundtrack of the event is pizzica salentina, the ancient folk dance of Southern Italy that gets everyone, young and old, moving. There is no shortage of folklore, games for children, and stage designs inspired by the famous trulli and the vibrant colors of the Mediterranean, creating an experience that engages all the senses.
Organized by Cucina di Puglia, the festival is free to enter and is part of the rich summer calendar of events in the Quartiere Cristo, which culminates with the historic Notte Bianca. It is the perfect opportunity for those who want to discover Apulian culture without leaving Piedmont, enjoying good food, live music, and the contagious joy of the South.
The 'Viva la Puglia' festival returns to Alessandria from June 26 to 28, 2026, confirming its place in the heart of the Quartiere Cristo summer. The setting is once again the Piazzale Unes on Corso Acqui, which transforms for three days into an oasis of Southern flavors and traditions.
This year, the public will once again be able to enjoy Apulian street food, craft beer, and let themselves be carried away by the rhythms of the pizzica salentina. The festival is part of the neighborhood's summer event calendar, alongside events such as the Notte Bianca and the Beer Festival.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.
