Every year, on the night of the summer solstice, over two hundred Italian villages light up for the Romantic Night in the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy, the national event promoted by the I Borghi più Belli d'Italia association. Among them is Cella Monte, a small town in the Province of Alessandria, Piedmont, nestled in the rolling hills of the Casale Monferrato area and famous for its infernot, the underground cellars carved into the 'pietra da cantone' stone, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Love & Enchantment: the theme of the 2026 edition

For the evening of June 20, 2026, Cella Monte has chosen the theme «Love & Enchantment». The main street of the village comes alive with artists, artisans, music, and little surprises built around the magic of falling in love. It is an evening stroll through lights and charm, where the medieval historic center becomes the natural stage for a story dedicated to sentiment and the beauty of the surroundings.

The Summer Solstice ritual

The most anticipated moment of the night is the Summer Solstice ritual, which concludes the event by celebrating the shortest night of the year. It is a symbolic and collective gesture, perfectly in line with the spirit of the Romantic Night: across Italy, villages light thousands of candles and offer shows, concerts, and tastings, transforming squares and alleys into settings suspended in time.

Visiting Cella Monte during the Romantic Night also means discovering one of the most characteristic centers of Monferrato, surrounded by Barbera, Grignolino, and Freisa vineyards.
