Basaldella Comes Alive with Celebration

At the beginning of June, the hamlet of Basaldella, in Campoformido, province of Udine, comes alive with the Saint Sebastian Festival: three days of celebration that blend gastronomy, music, sport, and community events. This event is curated by Gruppo Insieme Basaldella, the same group that lights the village's famous 'pignarûl' every Epiphany.

From Spit-Roasted Meat to Aperitifs with DJs

The food stall is one of the highlights, featuring specialties like spit-roasted meat, Friday's chicken, sausages, and German beer. Evenings often start with aperitifs accompanied by DJ sets, followed by music and dancing: from evenings dedicated to hits from the '70s to the 2000s, to the Latin-Cuban dance show that concludes the festival.

Sport and Sustainability

The festival also dedicates space to sports and sustainability themes: on Sunday morning, the 60 km Gravel Giro begins, while the vintage market for second-hand clothes and collectibles, along with the conscious fashion event, brings a reflection on responsible consumption to the square. There are also wooden games for children and sports demonstrations.
