About Beer and Chestnuts

In November, Moruzzo brings a taste of Oktoberfest to Friuli: the Beer and Chestnut Festival combines German beers, roasted chestnuts, and Friulian specialties under a heated marquee. Featuring chestnut gnocchi, frico, polenta, live music, and walks, it's the festival that warms the autumn of the Udine hills.

An Oktoberfest in the Friulian Hills

The Beer and Chestnut Festival in Moruzzo, organized by Pro Loco Moruzzo, is the autumn event that brings the spirit of Oktoberfest to the morainic hills of Friuli. Over two weekends in November, under a heated marquee, large mugs of German beer meet the most authentic flavors of Friulian tradition, in a festival that combines Mitteleuropean conviviality and local roots.

Beer, Chestnuts, and Mountain Cuisine

The stars are Bavarian-style beers and chestnuts, featured in dishes ranging from chestnut gnocchi with butter and sage to roasted chestnuts, accompanied by local wines like Ribolla. Friulian and Mitteleuropean specialties are also present: Viennese cutlet, polenta with frico, and fish dishes prepared by Alpine volunteers. It's a delicious offering that showcases the Friulian autumn in all its nuances.

Music, Walks, and Tournaments

The program alternates DJ sets and concerts, with cover bands of Friulian and national tradition, with outdoor activities such as the "Moruzzo a 6 Zampe" dog walk and a surprise walk, as well as morra and foosball tournaments. It's the community festival that closes the beautiful season in the Municipality of Moruzzo (Province of Udine), amidst the gentle hills northwest of the provincial capital.
