The patron saint festival of Casalgrasso, featuring walks, local fairs, and village traditions
The Saint John the Baptist Patronal Festival is the most anticipated event of the year for Casalgrasso, a town of just over a thousand inhabitants nestled in the plains of the Province of Cuneo, in Piedmont, on the border with the Turin area and along the banks of the Maira River. Dedicated to the town's patron saint, whose liturgical feast falls on June 24th, the festival spans an entire week in June, blending religious devotion, rural tradition, and moments of pure conviviality.
The program is the result of a collaborative effort between the Municipality and numerous local associations, from the Civil Protection to the Pro Loco, and from sports groups to the Circolo LAB 240. Activities range from nature walks along cycling paths and the banks of the Maira to theatrical performances, gastronomic evenings, exhibitions, and competitions that keep the village's identity alive.
More than just a calendar of events, the Saint John the Baptist Patronal Festival is the moment when Casalgrasso comes together: the residents, families, and the many volunteers who make it possible. Between a slice of homemade salami and a game of bocce, the festival tells the authentic story of the small towns in the Cuneo plains, where patron saint celebrations remain the beating heart of village life. The final Sunday, with the solemn holy mass and an aperitif at the town hall, brings a week of festivities open to everyone to a beautiful close.
