The Sagra dello Stoccafisso e Trofie al Pesto is one of the most beloved gastronomic festivals in the Valle Brevenna, in the municipality of Valbrevenna (Metropolitan City of Genoa). It takes place in Molino Vecchio, on the eve of Ferragosto, and celebrates stoccafisso, the dried cod ("Norwegian king") that has become a firm part of Ligurian culinary tradition.
Dried cod and pesto trofie
Every year, hundreds of kilos of dried cod are cooked, prepared according to traditional recipes. Accompanying it are the ever-present trofie al pesto, a symbol of Genoese cuisine. The food stalls serve the dishes in a festive atmosphere, with music and dancing to round off the evening.
An Authentic Ligurian Event
The festival is recognised as one of the Authentic Ligurian Events and is organised by the Pro Loco of Valbrevenna. With decades of history, it is a defining event for the community and an opportunity to discover the Valle Brevenna and the Antola Park, a short distance from Genoa.
Sagra dello Stoccafisso — edition 2026
For 2026, the 41st edition of the festival is scheduled for Friday, August 14, the eve of Ferragosto, in Molino Vecchio, Valbrevenna.
As tradition dictates, hundreds of kilos of dried cod will be cooked, accompanied by pesto trofie. The evening continues with music and dancing. The event is recognised as an Authentic Ligurian Event 2026 and is organised by the Pro Loco of Valbrevenna.
