Roasted chestnuts and autumn flavours with the Alpini of Torriglia
The Castagnata degli Alpini is the autumn event organised by the Gruppo Alpini of Torriglia, a village in the Apennines within the Metropolitan City of Genoa. The star is the chestnut, the symbolic fruit of these woods, transformed into fragrant roasted chestnuts.
In the centre of the village, the Alpini serve steaming roasted chestnuts accompanied by local wine and mountain cheeses, in a festive atmosphere celebrating the flavours of autumn and conviviality. A simple and genuine day, perfect for discovering Torriglia and its surroundings during the most picturesque time of the year.
The castagnata is recognised among the Authentic Ligurian Events, a brand that promotes events most closely linked to the local tradition. An event that combines the Alpini's spirit of service, mountain culture, and love for local products, at the gateway to the Antola Park.
For 2026, the Castagnata degli Alpini is scheduled for Sunday, October 18, in the centre of Torriglia. The Gruppo Alpini is preparing the roasted chestnuts, accompanied by local wine and mountain cheeses.
The day, recognised as an Authentic Ligurian Event 2026, celebrates the chestnut and autumn flavours in a festive and convivial atmosphere, at the gateway to the Antola Park.
