The polenta festival in Doues
Every early July, the municipality of Doues, in the Gran San Bernardo valley in the province of Aosta, celebrates one of its gastronomic traditions with the Sagra della Polenta. The festival takes place in the Pro Loco area next to the sports field and puts polenta, the symbolic dish of Aosta Valley mountain cuisine, at the centre, presented in many variations.
Polenta takes centre stage on the table
The sagra's menu is a journey through the flavours of the region: polenta concia, grilled meats, polenta gnocchi with ragù, Aosta Valley crepes with the renowned grilled jambon of Saint-Oyen, and desserts like polenta panna cotta and cornmeal tarts. Simple and abundant cuisine that tells the story of the Aosta Valley mountains.
Sport, entertainment, and dancing
Alongside gastronomy, the sagra offers keenly contested sports tournaments: the 6-a-side football tournament held over both days and the pairs palet tournament, the "Trofeo Elviro Tutel e Dario Savioz". For the little ones, there are bouncy castles, face painting, and entertainment, while the evenings are enlivened by free dancing with orchestras. Everything is organised by the Pro Loco of Doues with the support of the Municipality.

The Sagra della Polenta di Doues is one of those village festivals that preserve the most authentic soul of the Valle d'Aosta Region: genuine food, sport, music, and the desire to be together, in an alpine setting at the foot of the Grand Combin massif.
Sagra della Polenta Doues — edition 2026
For 2026, the Sagra della Polenta di Doues returns on July 4th and 5th in the Pro Loco area next to the sports field. Two days of festivities with polenta as the star, football and palet tournaments, entertainment for the little ones, and free dancing evenings, organised by the Pro Loco of Doues.

Saturday, July 4th
- 2:00 PM — Start of the 24-hour 6-a-side football tournament
- 7:00 PM — Dinner with grilled meats, polenta, and polenta concia
- 9:00 PM — Dancing evening with the orchestra Loris Gallo (free entry)
Sunday, July 5th
- 9:00 AM — Start of the 12-hour pairs palet tournament ("Trofeo Elviro Tutel e Dario Savioz")
- 12:30 PM — Lunch with polenta specialties (polenta gnocchi with ragù, Aosta Valley crepes with grilled Saint-Oyen ham, cornmeal desserts)
- 3:30 PM — Afternoon dancing with Antonella Marchini (free entry)
- 7:00 PM — Football tournament final
- 7:30 PM — Dinner with grilled meats and polenta dishes
- 9:00 PM — Dancing evening with Antonella Marchini (free entry)

How to get there
Doues is located in the Gran San Bernardo valley, reachable by car from Aosta in about 20-25 minutes. The sagra takes place in the Pro Loco area next to the town's sports field.
Entry and meals
Free entry. Lunches and dinners are paid for at the food stall; free dancing evenings. Team/pairs registrations are required for the tournaments.
