Concerts at the foot of the Grand Combin, amidst the mountains of Ollomont
Combin en Musique is a travelling music festival that takes place every summer in the municipalities at the foot of the Grand Combin massif, in the upper Valpelline: Doues, Ollomont, Oyace, Valpelline, and Roisan, with the expansion to Allein and Bionaz starting from the 2026 edition. Organized by the association Combin en Arts APS with the artistic direction of Federico Bagnasco and Christian Thoma, the festival makes the relationship between music and territory its distinctive feature.
The small municipality of Ollomont, in the Aosta Valley, nestled at about 1,400 meters above sea level in an alpine basin far from mass tourism, is one of the recurring venues of the event. Here, concerts take place in the symbolic places of the village—the church, the squares, but also the trails and pastures reachable on foot—transforming listening into an experience that combines music and walking.
The programming ranges from author jazz to baroque music, from contemporary violin to natural brass instruments. The ArCombin – Violin Trails section, supported by the Ministry of Culture and SIAE, gives space to young violinists under 35, some of whom perform in Ollomont. All concerts are free admission.
Attending a Combin en Musique concert in Ollomont means discovering a little-known corner of the Aosta Valley, where artistic quality meets the silence of the mountains. The festival is supported by the Aosta Valley Region, the Ministry of Culture, and the participating municipalities, with Rai Radio3 Classica as a media partner.
The ninth edition of Combin en Musique confirms the festival's structure: free concerts of classical and experimental music spread across the municipalities at the foot of the massif, including Ollomont. For 2026, the event expands to include Allein and Bionaz.
The detailed program, with specific dates, artists, and venues for each concert, will be announced by the organization in the weeks leading up to the summer on the official website.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published on the official website combinenmusique.com in the weeks preceding the start of the festival.
Based on previous editions, Ollomont usually hosts one or more concerts of the main festival and the ArCombin – Violin Trails section dedicated to young violinists under 35, as well as itinerant performances along the trails towards By and Acque Bianche.
All concerts are free admission. More information at combinenmusique.com.
Ollomont can be reached by car from Aosta by driving up the Valpelline (about 20 km). There are no direct train connections: the nearest station is in Aosta, from which you can continue by car or regional bus.
Concerts are free and open to the public. For itinerant concerts along the trails, appropriate mountain clothing and hiking shoes are recommended.
