About Aosta - Becca di Nona

One of the most iconic mountain running races in the Aosta Valley: from the heart of Aosta, you climb through the entire territory of Charvensod, up to the summit of Becca di Nona at 3142 meters. An impressive elevation gain that tests the most trained skyrunners, with a route passing through Pont-Suaz, the pastures of the main town, the Ponteille waterfalls, and the Comboé valley. Organized by ASD Becca di Nona 3142 based in Charvensod, the event also offers the shorter Aosta-Comboé and concludes with a celebration, music, and Aosta Valley folklore.

From the city to the summit in one go

The Aosta - Becca di Nona is one of the classics of Aosta Valley skyrunning: a race that starts from the city center of Aosta and reaches the summit of Becca di Nona, at 3142 meters altitude, crossing the entire territory of the Municipality of Charvensod (Province of Aosta). A breathtaking elevation gain that makes it a highly anticipated event for extreme mountain running enthusiasts.

Two routes for two challenges

The event offers two distinct competitive races:

  • Aosta - Becca di Nona: the queen course, about 13 km with 2500 meters of positive elevation gain, up to the summit at 3142 m.
  • Aosta - Comboé: the shorter version, about 9 km with 1500 meters of elevation gain, which ends in the picturesque Comboé valley.

The route passes through symbolic places in the Charvensod territory: Pont-Suaz, the pastures of the main town, the Ponteille waterfalls, and the Comboé valley, before the final ascent to the summit.

A local organization

The race is organized by ASD Becca di Nona 3142, a sports association based in Charvensod, with the support of the Municipalities of Aosta and Charvensod. The event is held biennially in even-numbered years: in odd-numbered years, the association instead proposes the vertical race Emilius 3559, a team race towards the summit of Mont Emilius. Starting from 2027, a new alternation with the Croce di Fana vertical race is also planned.

Not just competition

The Aosta - Becca di Nona is not just a race: after the finish, athletes and spectators gather for a celebration, with music, cheering, and folklore in an exclusive valley location. An opportunity to experience the Aosta Valley spirit of the mountains and community, in one of the most spectacular natural settings in the Western Alps.
