The sky race from Aosta's square to the 3142 meters of Becca di Nona
The Aosta - Becca di Nona is one of the classics of Aosta Valley skyrunning: a race that starts from the city center of Aosta and reaches the summit of Becca di Nona, at 3142 meters altitude, crossing the entire territory of the Municipality of Charvensod (Province of Aosta). A breathtaking elevation gain that makes it a highly anticipated event for extreme mountain running enthusiasts.
The event offers two distinct competitive races:
The route passes through symbolic places in the Charvensod territory: Pont-Suaz, the pastures of the main town, the Ponteille waterfalls, and the Comboé valley, before the final ascent to the summit.
The race is organized by ASD Becca di Nona 3142, a sports association based in Charvensod, with the support of the Municipalities of Aosta and Charvensod. The event is held biennially in even-numbered years: in odd-numbered years, the association instead proposes the vertical race Emilius 3559, a team race towards the summit of Mont Emilius. Starting from 2027, a new alternation with the Croce di Fana vertical race is also planned.
The Aosta - Becca di Nona is not just a race: after the finish, athletes and spectators gather for a celebration, with music, cheering, and folklore in an exclusive valley location. An opportunity to experience the Aosta Valley spirit of the mountains and community, in one of the most spectacular natural settings in the Western Alps.
The 2026 edition of Aosta - Becca di Nona, the fourteenth, will take place on Sunday, July 5, 2026. Compared to previous editions, usually held in mid-July, the date has been moved forward to allow for a new collaboration with the UTMB and Monterosa Walserwaeg events. Registrations opened on April 1, 2026, on the official website beccadinona.it. The two competitive races are confirmed: Aosta - Becca di Nona to the summit at 3142 m and the shorter Aosta - Comboé. In addition to the main event, the women's charity walk Becca Pink is scheduled for Friday, July 17, 2026, in support of the V.I.O.L.A. Association.
Start times, technical details of the routes, and registration fees will be published on the official website in the weeks preceding the race.
The 14th edition, moved to early July. Ascent to the 3142 meters of Becca di Nona, with the Aosta - Comboé variant. Becca Pink charity walk on July 17.
The start is in the center of Aosta, reachable by car from the A5 highway (Aosta exit) or by train to Aosta station. Charvensod is located just south of the city, on the right bank of the Dora Baltea river.
Registration opens in the months preceding the race on the official website beccadinona.it. As this is a high-altitude race with significant elevation gain, a good level of training is required.
Mandatory mountain clothing: weather conditions at the summit can change rapidly, even in mid-summer.
