The Rovegno Potato

The Sagra della Patata (Potato Festival) is the autumn event in Rovegno, a comune (municipality) in Alta Val Trebbia within the Metropolitan City of Genoa, bordering Emilia and Piedmont. The star is the high-altitude potato, which thanks to the valley's climate and soil has a firm texture, delicate flavour, and excellent cooking properties.

Over Fifty Years of Tradition

With over fifty years of history, the sagra is one of the most deeply rooted peasant festivals in the Ligurian Apennines and is included in the calendar of Authentic Ligurian Events of the Liguria Region.

At the Table

The heart of the festival is the food: handmade gnocchi with flavourful sauces, roasted and fried potatoes, savoury pies, soups, and the famous mountain brandacujun, the local version of the dish made with potatoes and stockfish. Alongside the food, the festival offers:

• Agricultural market with products from the valley;
• Folk music and popular dances;
• Workshops for children;
• walks through the villages and woods of Val Trebbia.
