Truffle, mushrooms, and Umbrian cuisine in the hamlet of Bosco
The Sagra della Boscaiola is held in Bosco, a hamlet of the Municipality of Perugia nestled in the countryside northeast of the provincial capital. Organised by the local Pro Loco (tourist board), it is a gastronomic festival that celebrates the products of the woods and the traditional Umbrian cuisine of the past, and which over time has grown to become one of the most popular events in the Perugia area in June.
The common thread of the menu is the woods and its fruits. Among the specialities you can taste at the stands:
All prepared by Pro Loco volunteers with local products, in a menu that changes from evening to evening but remains faithful to the local peasant cuisine.
The Boscaiola is not just about gastronomy: every evening the stage hosts the most popular dance orchestras in the region, with a paved dance floor where people dance to liscio (traditional Italian ballroom dance) until late at night. It is this combination of good food and live music that makes the festival an eagerly awaited event for the entire community of Bosco and the surrounding villages.
The Sagra della Boscaiola 2026, now in its 19th edition, enlivens the hamlet of Bosco in Perugia from June 5th to 14th. For ten evenings, the Pro Loco stands offer Umbrian woodland cuisine — fresh truffle, mushrooms, handmade gnocchi, and arvoltoli — with table service starting at 7:30 PM. Every evening, the paved dance floor comes alive with the region's best dance orchestras and live music until late at night.
The schedule of orchestras and guests for each evening will be published on the festival's official website and Facebook page in the weeks preceding the event.
Bosco is a hamlet of Perugia reachable by car from the capital's roads in a few minutes; the area is served by the routes towards Ponte Felcino and Pretola. Ponte San Giovanni station is the most convenient for those arriving by train.
Stands and table service every evening starting from 7:30 PM. Free admission to the festival area.
Full programme on the official website and the festival's Facebook page.
