The torta al testo, queen of the Umbrian table

The Festa della Torta al Testo e dei Vini DOC dei Colli Perugini takes place in Pila, a hamlet of the Municipality of Perugia, and is one of the longest-standing and most deeply rooted festivals in the area. The star is the torta al testo, a typical Umbrian flatbread prepared with simple ingredients—flour, water, baking soda, and salt—and cooked on a stone disc called a "testo", placed directly on the glowing embers of the hearth.

In the Arringatore Park

The event is held in the picturesque Parco dell'Arringatore (Arringatore Park) of Villa Umbra, which takes its name from the famous bronze statue of the Arringatore (the Orator), found in the countryside near Pila in 1567 and now preserved in Florence.
