The Sagra del Maialino alla Brace is one of the most cherished summer events in the Macerata area. It takes place every year in the second to last week of July in the hamlet of Camporota, a district of the Municipality of Treia, in the heart of the Marche region. For almost forty years, the inhabitants of this small hilltop village have rolled up their sleeves to welcome hundreds of visitors around an undisputed star: the suckling pig slowly cooked on a spit, prepared according to a secret recipe with an unmistakable taste.
Spit-roasted suckling pig, the true star of the festival
The food stall opens on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, while on Sundays, lunch and dinner are served. The famous spit-roasted suckling pig is only served from Saturday evening onwards and then for lunch and dinner on Sunday: a choice that preserves its quality and often requires booking. Alongside the signature dish, the stalls offer the authentic flavors of Marche's peasant cuisine, in a convivial atmosphere that draws entire families from Treia and neighboring towns.
San Vincenzo and the threshing ritual
The festival is not just about food: it coincides with the celebrations of San Vincenzo, protector of fields and animals, and with the reenactment of the ancient threshing ritual. On Sunday morning, Holy Mass is celebrated outdoors with the blessing of the fields and agricultural machinery, while in the afternoon, the gestures of peasant life are brought back to life, often accompanied by a display of vintage tractors and performances by local folk groups.
Music, dancing, and tournaments for everyone
The evenings come alive with ballroom orchestras, dialect theater performances, DJ sets for the younger crowd, and entertainment for children. Traditional card tournaments, such as briscola and scala 40, and bocce ball competitions, true classics of Marche village festivals, are also featured. All this takes place in a cheerful atmosphere that makes Camporota, for a few days, a meeting point for the entire community.

Organized by the Circolo Acli Pro Camporota A.p.s. with the collaboration of the parish committee of Santa Maria in Selva, the festival represents much more than a gastronomic event: it is a bastion of cultural and historical identity for the community of Treia, capable of passing down the value of peasant tradition and conviviality from generation to generation.

The 2026 edition of the Sagra del Maialino alla Brace will be held in Camporota di Treia (MC) from Thursday, July 16 to Sunday, July 19, 2026, confirming the historic appointment of the second to last week of July. As tradition dictates, the spit-roasted suckling pig will be the absolute protagonist, served at the food stalls alongside the San Vincenzo celebrations and the reenactment of threshing.

How to get there
By car: Treia is accessible from the SS77 Val di Chienti highway (exit towards Macerata) or from the SP361 Septempedana. Camporota is a few kilometers from the center of Treia. Recent editions have included a shuttle service to facilitate access to the festival area.
Admission and reservations
Admission to the festival is free; you only pay for what you consume at the food stalls. For the spit-roasted suckling pig, served on Saturday evening and Sunday, reservations are recommended.
