The Bleggio stop of the Trentino-Alto Adige Regional Sacred Music Festival
The Regional Sacred Music Festival of Trentino-Alto Adige stops every year in the municipality of Bleggio Superiore, in the Giudicarie Esteriori, with a concert hosted in the Parish Church of Santa Croce del Bleggio. The event is one of many that make up a festival spread across the entire region, distributed between the dioceses of Trento and Bolzano and always set in churches, parish churches, and cathedrals.
Founded in 1972 with an inaugural concert in the Collegiate Church of Arco, the Festival is the oldest concert association in Italy entirely dedicated to sacred music. It is managed by a regional body (now Festival Regionale di Musica Sacra ETS) composed equally of representatives from the provinces and municipalities of Trento and Bolzano. Each year, it offers a cycle of twenty to thirty concerts involving internationally renowned choirs, vocal ensembles, chamber orchestras, and soloists.
The Santa Croce del Bleggio stop particularly highlights the choral talent of the Trentino region: recent editions have featured a rotation of female choirs, chamber choirs, and orchestras with soloists, in programs that combine Renaissance and Baroque pieces with 19th-century and contemporary compositions. The repertoire encompasses authors from the Renaissance to the 20th century, with carefully curated performances and occasional world premieres.
The parish church of Bleggio Superiore, nestled in the landscape of the Giudicarie Esteriori just a short distance from Garda Trentino, offers intimate acoustics and an atmosphere perfect for listening to sacred music. The concert is organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Bleggio Superiore, the Municipality of Comano, the Giudicarie Music School, the Garda Trentino Tourist Board, and the Trentino Choir Federation.
The Bleggio Superiore concert is an opportunity to combine high-quality music with the discovery of an authentic corner of Trentino-Alto Adige.
