Traditional Christmas, nativity scenes, and solidarity in Garda Trentino
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Nadal a Dro is the Christmas festival that transforms the municipality of Dro—located in the Province of Trento, in Trentino-Alto Adige—into a festive village every December. The event is organized by the Pro Loco Sant'Antonio Dro APS, with the patronage of the Municipality of Dro and in partnership with the Dro Carnival Committee, the Friends of Santa Claus Committee, and various local associations. It is more than just a calendar of events; it is the expression of a community gathering around its own traditions.
The heart of the festival is the evocative "Nativity scenes within the nativity" trail, set up in the church of Sant'Antonio and throughout the village streets. Every year, dozens of nativity scenes—crafted by volunteers, families, and children—create a poetic itinerary that accompanies visitors until Epiphany. The inauguration, titled "The wonder... of the night," combines readings, dialect poetry, and accordion music in an intimate and cozy atmosphere.
The calendar offers a variety of festive moments for everyone:
Nadal a Dro is also a festival with a strong social impact: recent editions have linked their events to themes such as inclusion and support for pediatric oncology research, donating proceeds from certain activities to charitable organizations. This commitment has earned it recognition as one of the six signature Christmas events of the Trentino Pro Loco, selected by the Trentino Pro Loco Federation.
Located just a few kilometers from Lake Garda, nestled between orchards and the famous structures of the River Park, Dro offers an authentic and intimate side of the holiday season, far from mass tourism. Visiting Nadal a Dro means discovering Christmas as it is experienced by Trentino communities: made of nativity scenes, carols, solidarity, and the warmth of local associations.
The 2026 edition of Nadal a Dro is expected in December, following the festival's established tradition. At the moment, the official dates and the 2026 program have not yet been released by the Pro Loco Sant'Antonio Dro APS. Based on previous editions, one can expect the arrival of Saint Lucy, the inauguration of the nativity scene trail in the church of Sant'Antonio, comedy and children's shows, and the usual moments of solidarity. For the final calendar, we recommend following the official Pro Loco channels and the gardatrentino.it portal.
Dro is located in the lower Sarca Valley, in the Garda Trentino area. By car: take the A22 Brenner motorway, exit at Rovereto Sud/Lago di Garda Nord, then follow the SS240 towards Riva del Garda and take the turn-off for Dro. By train: arrive at Rovereto or Trento station, then continue by local bus.
Events take place primarily at the Dro Cultural Center, in the church of Sant'Antonio, and in the village squares, with additional activities in the hamlet of Ceniga. Most events are free to attend, with some accepting donations for charity.
For the updated program, we recommend checking the official Pro Loco Sant'Antonio Dro channels and the gardatrentino.it portal.
