Food, culture, and music along Viale della Repubblica
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Ruppià is the summer festival that adds color to Viale della Repubblica in San Marco in Lamis, a town in the Gargano area in the province of Foggia, Puglia. The concept is simple yet successful: turning the street into a meeting place where people can sit, eat, listen to music, and browse a book under the summer sky on a Thursday evening. It is a neighborhood gathering that combines the pleasure of dining with the joy of socializing, designed for both locals and those traveling through the Gargano during the warmer months.
The dialect name Ruppià perfectly captures the informal spirit of the event. Each evening features tastings of dishes prepared with fresh, local ingredients, accompanied by cocktails and summer drinks. Alongside the food, there are cultural activities dedicated to books and reading, as well as live concerts featuring local artists and bands who enliven Viale della Repubblica with pop, rock, and original repertoires.
The heart of Ruppià is Viale della Repubblica, which for the occasion becomes an open-air lounge. The local businesses on the avenue work together as a network: the PizzAmore pinseria, Bar Gentile, and Gelateria Primo Fiore, among others, open their doors and set up tables, music corners, and reading spaces, creating a widespread and engaging event.
The event is born from the collaboration between the businesses of Viale della Repubblica, the Auser Circolo APS of San Marco in Lamis, and the Municipal Administration. It is a prime example of how local associations and small businesses can work together with the town council to create an initiative that enhances street life and the town's summer evenings.
Nestled among the mountains of the Gargano, San Marco in Lamis is known for its folk and religious traditions, most notably the evocative procession of the Fracchie. Ruppià fits into a summer full of events and offers residents and visitors an extra opportunity to discover the town center, its flavors, and its hospitality, just a short distance from the sanctuaries and trails of the Gargano National Park.
