Three days of roses, elite nursery gardening, and flavors in the 'Village of Roses' in the Langhe
Perched over 750 meters high on the ridge of the Alta Langa, in the Province of Cuneo, Bossolasco is known as the Village of Roses: every spring, its streets, stone walls, and gardens are covered in blooming climbers and shrubs. The Rose Flowering Festival was created to celebrate this time of year when the village reaches the peak of its beauty. The event, traditionally held on the first weekend of June, is organized by the Pro Loco of Bossolasco in collaboration with the local Municipality.
The heart of the event is the floral and nursery market that winds through the historic center, featuring selected exhibitors from all over Italy. Among the highlights returning every year is Rose Barni, a historic Tuscan nursery that has been a benchmark for rose cultivation for over a century. Alongside the stands, enthusiasts can attend meetings with nurserymen and master gardeners, presentations of new varieties, educational workshops, and demonstrations dedicated to garden care.
A true jewel of the festival is the Rose Park, a path of about 300 meters that gathers over 200 varieties of multicolored roses. During the event, guided walks take place among the flowerbeds in the company of gardener Giorgio Cortese, an opportunity to discover historical species and new introductions up close.
The festival is not just about flowers: the program weaves together theater in the Piedmontese dialect, concerts, meetings with botanical experts, and moments designed for children, such as the Bossolasco Family Tour. On the gastronomic front, the friceu alle rose (rose fritters) stand out as the festival's signature specialty, accompanied by tastings of Alta Langa wines, particularly the Alta Langa DOCG Rosé. A day in Bossolasco during the flowering season is a complete experience that combines the culture of greenery, the traditions of the Langhe, and the local food and wine scene.
