The major spring trade fair in Borgaro Torinese
The Rose Fair is the historic trade fair of Borgaro Torinese, a town in the northern outskirts of Turin, in the Province of Turin (Piedmont). It takes place every year on the second Sunday of May and is one of the most cherished public events on the local calendar: a day when the entire historic center is closed to traffic and handed over to market stalls, families, and local associations.
The heart of the event is the trade fair itself, with over 120 stalls (approximately 117-125 depending on the edition) spread along the main streets of the town: Via Caselle, Via Lanzo, Via Svizzera, Via Ciriè, Via Lussemburgo, and Via Inghilterra. You can find all kinds of goods—clothing, household items, artisanal products, plants, and flowers—along a route that crosses Borgaro from morning to evening, typically from 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM.
The fair is complemented by the Spring Market, dedicated to flowers, plants, decorations, and seasonal products, which gives the day the typical spring color from which the event takes its name. Completing the offering are the downtown shops, which remain open all day, participating in the festivities with special initiatives and promotions.
The Rose Fair has a strong family focus. In recent editions, the program has featured a children's and youth market, a kids' expo, educational and creative workshops, face painting, entertainment, and tournaments (table tennis and foosball) organized by the Borgaro Youth Center, as well as stilt-walker performances and activities run by local associations. There is no shortage of music and dancing in the afternoon—from group dances to swing & boogie woogie, and from cover bands to country dancing—which enliven the squares until evening.
The Borgaro Pro Loco is a permanent fixture at the fair, with a gourmet corner offering coffee tastings and aperitifs during the morning, contributing to the atmosphere of celebration and conviviality that characterizes the event. The festival thus confirms itself not only as an opportunity for open-air shopping but also as a moment of gathering for the Borgaro community and visitors from the municipalities of the North East Turin Union and the entire Turin metropolitan area.
