Outdoor sports for everyone in the parks of San Maurizio Canavese
Sport Verde is the sports event that transforms the parks and public spaces of San Maurizio Canavese—a town in the Canavese area near Turin—into open-air gyms every spring. Promoted by the municipal Department of Sport, the initiative involves numerous local sports clubs, which offer free lessons and trial sessions for residents of all ages, from children to adults, over the course of two months.
The philosophy behind Sport Verde is simple and inclusive: take sports out of indoor facilities and make them accessible to everyone, for free, in the town's green spaces and squares. For two months, between May and June, local clubs take turns hosting demonstrations and open classes. It is the perfect time for those wanting to try a new discipline without commitment, for families looking for activities to do together, or for anyone simply wanting to enjoy their town in the fresh air.
The local associations are the true stars of the festival. Among the long-standing participants is APD San Maurizio, which manages football activities at the Via Ceretta Inferiore sports field with sessions dedicated to various youth categories. Alongside football, the festival hosts a wide range of other disciplines proposed by local clubs each year, from gymnastics to martial arts, and from dance to wellness activities—all centered on participation and accessibility.
San Maurizio Canavese is located just a few kilometers from Turin, on the edge of the Lower Canavese and the Ciriacese Union of Municipalities. In this intimate, human-scale setting, Sport Verde has quickly become a highly anticipated spring event, successfully combining the promotion of physical activity with the enhancement of green spaces and community life. It is a formula that perfectly captures the spirit of the Piedmontese territory.
The fourth edition of Sport Verde brings life to San Maurizio Canavese from Monday, May 4th to Tuesday, June 30th, 2026. As per tradition, throughout May and June, local sports clubs offer completely free outdoor lessons and demonstrations in parks and public spaces for residents of all ages. The detailed program of activities was made available by the municipal Department of Sport in April 2026.
Football activities take place at the Via Ceretta Inferiore sports field, managed by APD San Maurizio, with sessions divided by age category:
