Flower and nursery market in Parco Guerrieri Gonzaga
Rosa Rosae is the high-quality flower and nursery market that brings the Parco Guerrieri Gonzaga in Villa Lagarina to life every May, in the heart of the Vallagarina valley in the province of Trento. The event takes place when the roses are in full bloom, transforming the historic park into a riot of color and fragrance. Established in 2025, the event is promoted by Parco Guerrieri Gonzaga, a historic estate under the care of the family of Marchese Carlo Guerrieri Gonzaga.
The setting is one of the largest parks in Trentino, spanning about three and a half hectares on the right bank of the Adige river, just north of Rovereto. The garden houses a botanical collection of over a thousand rose varieties, arranged by color and type, sourced from major international breeders: Chinese, floribunda, noisette, damask, gallica, and antique collector roses. Surrounding the roses are monumental trees, including an imposing centuries-old plane tree, the northernmost lemon house in Italy, and a romantic Tyrolean chalet.
The market brings together more than thirty companies from various Italian regions and across Europe. Visitors can purchase roses, perennials, clematis, agapanthus, carnivorous plants, potted citrus, aromatic herbs, and shade-loving species, as well as artisanal products such as essences, rose-based cosmetics, ceramics, and dried flower arrangements. It is the perfect opportunity to engage directly with producers and discover varieties rarely found in standard nurseries.
Alongside the market, the program offers guided tours to explore the park and its history, gardening workshops for adults and children, watercolor painting demonstrations, tree-climbing exhibitions, and meetings with experts. Guest speakers include architects Filippo Pizzoni and Michelangelo Lupo, who discuss the historical value of gardens and 19th-century green culture. Children will find dedicated activities, from rose potpourri workshops to educational play trails.
Rosa Rosae is more than just a plant market: it is an invitation to slow down, observe, and let your senses lead the way. The gourmet area set up in the romantic Tyrolean chalet offers refreshments, while the park grounds welcome those wishing to stop for a picnic in the shade of the ancient trees. An event that celebrates biodiversity, the Vallagarina landscape, and the tradition of the historic Trentino garden in one of the most fascinating estates in the Trentino-Alto Adige region.
The 2026 edition of Rosa Rosae was held on May 23 and 24 at Parco Guerrieri Gonzaga in Villa Lagarina. The program featured guided tours led by Nadia Nicoletti, gardening workshops for adults and children with Cristina Leti, watercolor painting demonstrations with Raffaella Baldessari, and tree-climbing exhibitions. Cultural lectures were delivered by architects Filippo Pizzoni and Michelangelo Lupo. The gourmet area in the Tyrolean chalet, managed by Factory Café, offered lunches, wood-fired pizza, and local specialties.
